Alternative Accommodations: Victoria University at the University of Toronto

The 2018 Toronto Rotaract Host Committee has secured a block of rooms at Victoria University at the University of Toronto until MARCH 21, 2018. After March 21, 2018, you may still inquire to book at Victoria University, however the rooms will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

If you are looking for alternative housing arrangements while you are in Toronto, please consider booking a room in the residences of Victoria University at the University of Toronto.

There are two options available for booking:

Single Room Rate* (Adult/Student**) – $84.75 (CAD) / $77.97 (CAD) (includes 13% tax)

Double Room Rate* (Adult/Student**)- $113.00 (CAD) / $106.22 (CAD) (includes 13% tax)

** Student rates apply to conventional residences for undergraduates, or equivalent students of any university, showing current year’s ID card. Student ID cards must be shown at check-in.

As you will be booking directly with the University, please note the following:

* Rates are per night.
* Full payment is due upon check-in. Payment may be required in full prior to arrival (1 month to 1 business week out) to avoid delays at check-in.
* A full breakfast is included daily and housekeeping services and linens are also provided. Guests would need to supply their own personal hygiene items as soap, shampoo, etc.
* Internet is provided by request upon check-in. Guests must supply their own ethernet cable.

*When booking a double room, you assume responsibility for the FULL payment of the room and it is your responsibility to find a roommate who will share the cost with you. The residence staff WILL NOT allocate a roommate to any of the double rooms. If you book a double room and DO NOT find a roommate to share with, you will be charged the FULL RATE for a DOUBLE ROOM.

When you request to book, please reference “Rotaract Preconvention 2018 (CONF)” as this will ensure you will be placed in the same housing block as the rest of the group.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is the rate per night?

Including the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST – 13%) the room rates are as follows:

Single Room Rate* (Adult/Student**) – $84.75 (CAD) / $77.97 (CAD)

Double Room Rate* (Adult/Student**)- $113.00 (CAD) / $106.22 (CAD)

What type of room can I book? Single and twin-bedded rooms are equipped as study bedrooms. In each room, fresh linen and towels are provided.

Can I request a private* washroom? The washrooms are shared amongst the guests and are located a few steps from each room. If you require your own washroom for any reason, please make this known at the time of your booking as there are a few available on a first come, first served basis.

*A private room with a private washroom may incur an additional fee.

What time is check-in/out?

Check-in – 4:00PM

Check-out – 11:00AM

Is there Internet in the residences? Internet is also available in the rooms, however guests must bring their own ethernet cable, request internet access upon check-in, and allow for approximately 20 minutes to set-up.

Can I book a room for someone who is not attending the Rotaract Preconvention or Rotary International Convention? Yes, if you are travelling with a guest who is not attending a Rotary-related event, you may still book accommodations for them at this venue.

Is breakfast included? Yes, a full breakfast is included daily. Summer accommodation includes a full hot breakfast served in either our beautiful Burwash Dining Hall or Ned’s Cafe in our Goldring Student Centre. Are towels and linens included? Yes, towels and linen are provided along with housekeeping services.

Are toiletries included? No they are not. Guests will need to supply their own personal hygiene items such as soap, shampoo, etc.

How far is Victoria University residence accommodations from the venue for the Rotaract Preconvention and Rotary International Convention? You can take multiple modes of transportation to and from the residences at Victoria University to the Rotaract Preconvention and Rotary International Convention Sites.

Victoria University to the Air Canada Centre (This is where the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be, as well as all of the General Sessions)

Walking: 40 Minutes; Free

Public Transportation (TTC): 13 Minutes; $3.25 (CAD) One-way

Taxi/Uber/Lyft: 15 Minutes; $10.00-$15.00 (CAD) One-way, depending on traffic

Victoria University to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (This is where the Rotaract Preconvention will be, as well as all of the breakout sessions and the House of Friendship)

Walking: 35 Minutes; Free

Public Transportation (TTC): 15 Minutes; $3.25 (CAD) One-way

Taxi/Uber/Lyft: 15 Minutes; $10.00-$15.00 (CAD) One-way, depending on traffic

Can the residence assign a roommate to me if I don’t know who I will be sharing a double room with? No, Victoria University Residence Staff are not able to assign roommates for double room bookings. If you decide you want to book a double room and share the cost with a roommate, you will either need to a) know who you want to share with at the time of booking or b) book the double room and find a roommate before arriving in Toronto.

Can I book a double room now if I don’t yet know who I will be sharing with? Yes, you can request a double room if you know you want to share with another person. It is your responsibility to find a person to share with or you will be charged the FULL RATE for the double room upon arrival. If you are making a reservation request for a double room (2 persons), only the credit card holder is required to make the reservation.

Do I have to pay for the booking in full when I reserve the room? A Visa or Mastercard is required to hold your reservation, and will not be charged unless otherwise stated and/or agreed. Payment may be required in full prior to arrival (1 month to 1 business week out) to avoid delays at check-in. A valid government issued identification card and the credit card used to secure the reservation must be presented at the time of check-in. If you are unable to provide Visa or MasterCard information at the time of booking, please contact us at [email protected] as we may be able to make alternative payment arrangements (*additional fees will apply).

What if I need to cancel my reservation? Failure to provide 24-hour notice of a cancellation before the arrival date will result in a charge of one-night’s stay plus taxes. Cancellation fees are non-refundable
